In 2002, Brian Cook and his cousin Colby Robinson began stocking inventory in a turn-of-the-century store front on Center Street in American fork. Today, Humphries Archery has 4 locations in 2 states. Humphries Archery is still a family company but we have scaled things up a bit. With the opening of two new locations and the launch of our new website, 2015 has been an especially important year for us.
Brian and Colby have established a customer service brand. The foundation of the business has been built by going above and beyond for clients. Whether a customer is looking for an entry-level bow package on a super-tight budget or a customer is looking to buy the most expensive and state of the art bow, we are stoked that you walked in the door!
I have experienced this customer service first hand from Humphries Archery before I was ever an employee. As of 2011, I had never shot a bow. I enjoyed hunting with a rifle and a muzzleloader. I considered myself somewhere beyond novice level when hunting and in the outdoors. In the hunting and outdoor retail industry I had met enough of the ego trip sales guy. You know what I’m talking about. The guy who is more interested in telling you about his set up, how many animals he’s harvested or why he’s just better than everyone else, than he is in listening to you or your concerns. I might be the only one, but that type of thing is really off putting to me. So I was very reluctant to set foot into an archery pro shop. I met Brian Cook, the owner of Humphries Archery and our fearless leader, before I knew he owned an archery store. He talked me into checking out archery. So I swallowed my pride and walked into the American Fork Humphries Archery store as a “noob”. I expected to feel like I was less than a man because I had never even handled a bow. As you have probably guessed, I was completely wrong. Colby Robinson, who manages the American Fork store, treated me like a friend and didn’t talk down to me whatsoever. He didn’t scoff at me when I told him about my very limited budget. He was excited and told me about a bow set up that would be perfect for me and my goals. I walked out feeling like a million bucks and that I was getting one of the best bows out there. Colby and Brian tuned my bow, set up my accessories and taught me how to shoot. I gained more knowledge than I could imagine. I felt like I was part of the team. As I hung around the shop, I realized that this was just who they were. They treated everyone like this. It was refreshing to say the least.
This is the model for all Humphries Archery employees. We strive to create experiences like this with everyone. Whether you visit one of our brick-and-mortar stores or purchase online.
